Dear Bates Families,
Pumpkin Fair fever is upon us! Our PTO and parent volunteers have been busily preparing for tomorrow’s Pumpkin Fair, and our students are very excited with anticipation. It promises to be a successful and fun day for all.
Later this month Bates will hold our annual Halloween parade on October 31 at 8:45 a.m. Families are invited to join us for this fun event. Students who wish to participate in the parade are asked to wear their costumes to school and bring a change of clothes to change after the parade. As in past years, we ask that all costumes be appropriate for a K-5 audience. Face make-up should be minimal, and masks should not be worn at school. Students will parade around the school. Students who would not like to participate will have the option of joining an alternate activity in the gym.
Fall parent teacher conferences will start November 1. Conferences are about 20 minutes and are an opportunity for parents and teachers to share information about each child’s progress thus far in school. On Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. I will send you an email with each teacher’s online sign up link. Please call the Bates School office if you would like assistance signing up for a conference.
Because safety is an ongoing priority, I ask that students and adults refrain from riding bikes through the parking lot. We have noticed students and caregivers riding through and around the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your help in following this safety precaution.
Finally, I’d like to share a resource for green lunchbox ideas and information about the Bates Recycling Project created by Wellesley High School graduate Sinclair Vandervoort: http://greenerschools.wixsite.com/greenlunchbox Enjoy!
Warm regards,
Toni Jolley
