Dear Bates,
It’s hard to believe tomorrow is June 1. There are 14 school days left in the school year, which are filled with many of our favorite school traditions. I’ve included the dates below in case you want to double check that you have it all on your calendars!
Pride Month
This month we recognize Pride Month, an opportunity for students to learn more about diversity and inclusion with respect to members of the LBGTQ+ community. Last year at Bates we were very proud to hang the rainbow flag in the gym at Bates. Our goal in doing so was to affirm that everyone belongs at Bates. Students at Bates learn about different kinds of families and the freedom to be yourself. Our curriculum offers opportunities for students in all grades to learn about family structures and gender identity in a developmentally appropriate way, while reinforcing our district’s core value of Respect for Human Differences. As we recognize Pride in June, students and staff may wear rainbow attire and/or accessories if they choose throughout the month.
