Dear Bates Families,
The school year is off to a wonderful start here at Bates! It is a joy to have our school filled once again with the enthusiasm, curiosity, and lively voices of our students. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to make this a special year for every child. Below, you will find important dates and information for the coming weeks of school.
Back to School Night
Please mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 17, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. This evening is a great opportunity for parents and guardians to meet their child’s teacher and learn about the curriculum, routines, and expectations for the year ahead.
- 6:30 – 7:00 PM: K–2 Classroom Presentations
- 7:00 – 7:30 PM: Principal’s Welcome & Message (Gymnasium)
- 7:30 – 8:00 PM: Grades 3–5 Classroom Presentations
Join the Bates School Council!
We are looking for two parents to join the Bates School Council for a two-year term.
The School Council is a representative committee composed of the principal, three parents, two teachers, and a community member who meet on Thursday afternoons seven times a year. It offers a wonderful space for parents, teachers, and community members to collaborate on district initiatives, strengthen the home-school connection, and focus on student safety and school climate.
The primary responsibilities of the council include assisting the principal to:
- Adopt educational goals for the school
- Identify the educational needs of our students
- Review the annual school building budget
- Formulate the annual school improvement plan
If you are interested in joining or learning more, please contact me at
jolleya@wellesleyps.org or 781-446-6260 by
Wednesday, September 16.
Finally, please note the upcoming dates listed below and as a reminder, there is no school on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.
I hope you and your family enjoy the long weekend!
Best regards,
Toni Jolley
