Dear Bates Families,
I hope the delayed opening today allowed for safe travels to school and work for everyone. With the sun and warmer temperatures there were many smiles as students enjoyed the snow with outdoor recess! In this email I share information regarding several upcoming events at Bates and ask for your feedback about the Magnificent Day of Play.
Bates in Bloom
As a reminder on Thursday, March 7 at 8:45 we invite families to join us for Bates in Bloom. Bates in Bloom is a schoolwide open house event for families to visit and celebrate our students’ hard work. Each child will have a piece of artwork on display around the building as well as work to share in their classroom. Students are proud and excited to share their work with you.
Parent Partners in Diversity Committee
I am excited to announce a special opportunity for Bates to partner with our parents. The Parent Partners in Diversity Committee will be a small committee of individuals that commit to meet approximately five times a year to discuss issues related to diversity. The committee will work to ensure that Bates is a welcoming community for all of our students and families. In addition to this committee work, several opportunities will be planned that will be open to the entire Bates community. If you are interested in joining the Parent Partners in Diversity Committee, please complete and submit this form by Friday, March 8. Parent Teacher Conferences
Spring Parent Teacher Conferences begin the week of March 25. Look for my email with teachers’ online sign up links on Wednesday, March 6 at 12:00 p.m. If you would like assistance with your online sign up, please contact the Bates office.
Magnificent Day of Play Feedback
Please help us to understand how the Day of Play went for your child and family by completing this short Day of Play feedback form by Friday, March 8. Responses are anonymous and will be used to help us reflect on the day and plan for the future.
For Fifth Grade Parents Only:
Wellesley Middle School will host the parents of incoming sixth grade students on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The evening will begin at 6:15 p.m. with a parent check-in and music by the WMS Jazz Band. Greetings from Principal Mark Ito and curriculum presentations will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s overview of electives and specials classes will end around 8:45 p.m. with refreshments and an opportunity mingle with WMS administrators for questions and answers until 9:00 p.m.
