Dear Bates Community,
December is off to a great start here at Bates. We all cheered the arrival of our first snow on Thursday. Students love to play in the snow at recess, but we ask that they bring the right gear to do so, namely snow boots and pants. Otherwise we ask that they play in the blacktop area so that they stay dry. Please reach out if you have any questions.
As part of Computer Science Education Week celebrated this week nationwide, Bates students participated in the Hour of Code during library classes with Liz Rey. I was fascinated to see fourth graders using code to write poetry! To learn more visit www.code.org.
On Thursday, December 16 at 10:30 members of the School Committee have scheduled time to meet with Bates parents on Zoom. This will be an opportunity for informal conversation and Q & A with School Committee members. A Zoom link will be emailed to parents on Thursday morning.
Today’s WPS COVID-19 Update email announced a sharp increase this week in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the district. With the surge in new cases in Massachusetts, we ask that all families please help to keep our community healthy and safe with the mitigation practices that we know work. For more information, please see today’s COVID-19 Update email. Thank you for your continued support.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Warmly,
Toni Jolley
