Dear Bates,
On Wednesday we were very excited to hold our first Community Meeting. Once each month our whole school gathers for a Community Meeting, sitting in a big circle in the gym to sing songs, highlight exciting learning, share a read aloud and spotlight examples of students following the 3Bs at Bates, which are: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe and Kind. On Wednesday we sang a new HunneBates Song and our Belong Song, both written by our talented music teacher Beth Perry. I suggest you invite your child to sing these beautiful songs for you! The words are included below. Also, you’ll see in the picture below students and staff were proudly wearing their One Wellesley tee-shirts.
October is a busy month at Bates. As you may know, the PTO’s Bates Pumpkin Fair is on Saturday, October 15, and the excitement is already building. The Pumpkin Fair is an amazing opportunity to see our PTO at work providing an awesome event for our community while fundraising for our school. We are so grateful for all of the work of our PTO, including their recent work to landscape the school grounds and stock our faculty lunchroom with delicious snacks. Thank you!
Please see the attached flyer to learn more about WPS’s STEAM Week, which starts October 17. Also, mark your calendar for Bates Picture Day on October 18 and our Halloween Parade on October 31 (more details to follow.) Finally, parent teacher conferences will be offered starting the week of October 24. I will send an email with links for you to sign up for a conference with your child’s teacher on October 12 at 10 am.
Looking ahead to next week, as a reminder there is no school on Wednesday, October 5 in observance of Yom Kippur.
