Dear Bates Families,
We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our Wellesley High School seniors during their clap out this afternoon! Seeing so many former Bates students return with their families, proudly wearing their red caps and gowns, was a wonderful full circle moment. Our current Bates students were thrilled to cheer on these young adults in such a special tradition. Congratulations to our WHS seniors!
Planning for Next Year: Classroom Update
As we finalize our plans for the 2026-2027 school year, the district continues to monitor enrollment numbers at each school and grade level. Based on current registration, Bates will have the following class sections next year:
Kindergarten – 2 sections
Grade 1 – 2 sections
Grade 2 – 2 sections
Grade 3 – 2 sections
Grade 4 – 3 sections
Grade 5 – 3 sections
Faculty Transitions
It is with mixed emotions that I share news of Bates faculty who will be pursuing new opportunities next year. Katie Catalano, second grade teacher, will be teaching first grade in a private school, and Mara Hochberg, fourth grade teacher, will be teaching fifth grade at the Hunnewell School in Wellesley. Bates librarian Rochelle Hickey and Bates art teacher Katie Toth will also be exploring new opportunities next year.
We are deeply grateful for the contributions of Mrs. Hochberg, Ms. Catalano, Mrs. Hickey and Mx. T to our school community. They will be greatly missed!
I will share news of new hires and classroom teacher grade level assignments in my upcoming newsletters.
Spring Concert
On Wednesday, June 10 at 8:45 am in the gym we will hold the final concert of the year. The Bates band and orchestra, as well as the fifth grade chorus, will be performing. All family and friends are welcome to join us for this special event!
Staff vs. Fifth Grade Kickball Game & Field Day
Finally, next Friday promises to be an unforgettable day for two reasons!
- In the morning, we are thrilled for the return of the Bates staff vs. fifth-grade kickball game on the field. The whole school will be out to cheer on this new tradition!
- In the afternoon, we will celebrate Field Day from 1:00–3:00 PM.
Please be sure to prepare your children for the day by sending them with filled water bottles and ensuring sunscreen is applied at home.
We truly appreciate the many volunteers who will be helping to set up, lead games, and support our students to ensure a successful, fun-filled day for all!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best regards,
Toni
