Roblox Game Design

Create a game in Roblox, and share it with millions of kids around the country—what a great way to stay connected and make friends! Learn game design and block coding in this wildlypopular online platform; Roblox hosts user-created games in many genres, such as racing games, role-playing games, simulations, and obstacle courses. You’ll design, develop, and test popular themes to build video games filled with characters, object interaction, and physics. Whether it’s building a spaceship and racing it to Mars or creating a more down-to-earth game, Roblox is a great way to apply your creativity and new coding expertise.

Learn to Run a 5K
Instructor: Mx. Nicole Fyvie, Fitness & Health Teacher
Learn to run a 5K race (3.1 miles) with Mx. Fyvie and guests! We will begin with our Bates MiniMarathon training as a foundation, and work up to run the Schofield 5K in June (not a requirement). Strength training, stretching, pacing, and nutrition will all be taught to make us stronger and faster runners.

Space Animations
Instructor: CinemaKidz
Join CinemaKidz as we plan, build, and film space and Star Wars-inspired stop-motion animations! With space as our theme, students will invent their very own aliens and characters that will star in the animated projects, and build them using a variety of materials led by a professional artist. Kids will learn how the pros rig up their sets, as they use a combination of built backgrounds and green screens to create the feel of outer space. Sets and characters will be built out of wood, wire, paper mâché, clay, and a variety of other materials to look like real Hollywood productions! Students will utilize professional software, to film and edit their animated tales. Kids will learn how to combine live-action videos they film, as they build costumes and act in their own projects, then put it all together for one long-featured space project!
