Dear Hunnewell,
I am pleased to announce that we have hired three remarkable educators for our opening in kindergarten and our two openings in first grade.
Christine Frend mark will be joining our kindergarten team. Christine comes to us from Fisketastic Fiske. Christine worked as a kindergarten teacher this past year at Fiske and before that served as a kindergarten teaching assistant for 8 years under the direction of Jen Brophy. When her position was eliminated at Fiske due to enrollment, Rachel McGregor called me to sing her praises when she lerned that we were hiring for this position. Everyone on the hiring committee wanted to hire her on the spot.
Hannah Berggren will be joining our first grade team. Hannah comes to us from Upham. Hannah started as a grade 5 teacher at Upham and when her position was eliminated due to enrollment two years ago, Mr. Dees hired her as a special educator because she is dual certified as a special education and general education teacher. In this role, Hannah has worked with many first graders and is very familiar with the curriculum. She comes highly recommended by the entire Upham staff. Ms. Schroeder and Ms. McQuade thought she made the perfect fit for first grade team.
Julia MacPherson will also be joining our first grade team. Julia comes to us from Sprague where she worked this past year as a first grade teacher. When her position was eliminated due to enrollment, Leigh reached out to me and shared that the district cannot lose such a talented educator. Lisa Mortarelli also had the good fortune to get to know Hannah during a class that Lisa was teaching on literacy instruction this year. She found Julia to be incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to the work and her students. It is no surprise that Julia comes highly recommended by the Sprague teachers and we are confident she will be an excellent addition to this team.
Please join me in welcoming these three new teachers. Hunnewell is fortunate that these Christine, Hannah, and Julia come to us with knowledge about Wellesley and our curriculum. I have no doubt they will make an excellent addition to the team!
