All other preschool classes will dismiss at 11:30am on 3/28.

Recently we have received several questions from parents looking for ideas about healthy lunch and snack options at preschool. Below, please find some ideas that might be helpful.

Healthy Lunch Ideas

Packing healthy lunches for your preschool children can sometimes feel like a daunting task. We want to provide healthy choices for our active growing children that include; whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy including milk, yogurt and cheese (or dairy substitutes) and lean proteins such as beans, chicken, fish, turkey, tofu, and eggs. As you are planning lunches try to offer a variety of choices, encouraging your children to taste new foods. Remember children at this age are learning to identify when they are full, so don’t be surprised if they don’t always eat everything you have packed for them; they are not ready for adult size portions.

The following websites have some lunch suggestions that you may find helpful.

Here are a few examples from the websites:

  • Southwest Quinoa (quinoa tossed with corn, black beans, avocado, and chopped tomato), chicken breast, ½ and ½ Greek yogurt (½ plain and ½ strawberry), steamed broccoli, grapefruit
  • Hummus and veggie skewers, chicken breast, pears, whole grain O’s
  • Mini quiches made with egg and cheese and customized for your child, fruit
  • turkey or ham and cheese, crackers and fruit, veggies

Please remember as you are planning your child’s lunch and snack the preschool is a nut-free environment. is a helpful site when looking for allergy free snacks.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and positive participation in the PAWS preschool community!  We appreciate your kindness and partnership!
