Dear Bates Parents and Guardians,

As we wrapped up the school year earlier this week, we found new ways to provide closure for our students while physically distant.  We enjoyed a virtual Fond Farewell ceremony for our fifth graders and a final virtual Community Meeting, complete with a fifth grade clap out.  Now more than ever, our school traditions serve a very important role in keeping our feeling of community strong.  Thank you for joining us in these celebrations.

Parent Focus Groups

I want to say thank you again for your continued support all year and especially during these last three difficult months.  I continue to value the parent experience and wish to seek feedback that will improve our work.  In order to capture your reflections on remote learning, the PTO has organized two parent focus group sessions for next week.  Please look for the PTO email today with the sign-up link.  Focus groups are scheduled for Monday and Thursday evenings next week.

Bates Parent Reopening Working Group

As we plan for next year, I will remain in close contact with our parent community.  I plan to offer a chance to meet in the virtual Principal Coffee format as well as send updates as they develop by email.  In addition, I have invited interested parents to provide feedback on reopening plans by serving on the Bates Parent Reopening Working Group.  If you are interested in serving on this group, which will meet 2-3 times over the summer, please email me at jolleya@wellesleyps.org.

Finally, for our LGBTQ+ families, I wish you happy Pride month.  For all of our families, I hope that you find time to relax, step away from your screens and engage in some of your favorite summer activities together.  While I look forward to a break myself, I also look forward to the fall and the possibility of being together again soon.

Warm regards,

Toni Jolley
