Fiske Families,Fall is moving along and we are now entering the last week of October.  I want to personally thank both the Wellesley Police and Fire Department for their incredible response on Tuesday.  Their quick action assured the safety of all Fiske students and staff. School Safety Officer Rosenberg will be attending the Fiske PTO meeting on Thursday, October 28th at 8:45 a.m. to discuss the protocol for these types of emergencies.
Kids CareIMG_2255.JPGIMG_2256.JPGOn Wednesday, the Kids Care Club met to send books to the African Library Program.  The students have collected 629 books with a total goal of 1,000 books.  It was amazing to see so many students working hard to enrich the lives of others.  These students were living up to the FISKE values; Fair, Inclusive, Safe, Kind, and Encouraging. To donate books, you can leave them in the collection box in the Fiske lobby.
Student CouncilThe first student council meeting was held on Thursday, October 22.  This week we discussed the Halloween Parade, lunch rules, and creating a job program for all 4th and 5th graders. The students are looking forward to exploring these and many other ideas.  We are off to a Fiske-tastic start!  Thank you to Julie Verret and Christina Gerst for leading this program with me.  Our current Student Council members are:Grade 4                        Grade 5Julia Harding                  Mark HerlihyMaiwenn Kamdje           David MaggiacomoCaroline Kenny               Reagan O’Neil Mirabella Kushner          Myles SiskindJiho Lee                          Isabelle LeeLucy Savarese                 Aaron Lai

BOKS
IMG_2258 (1).JPGIMG_2259.JPGThe BOKS program began on Tuesday, October 20th and over 30 students participated. BOKS is off to a great start. The skill of the week was the plank.  I personally enjoyed running around the school with the students.

Thank you to all our BOKS volunteers. Pictured above is our own PTO Co-President, Jay Staunton, and first Grade Teacher, Michelle Solek, leading the Thursday group.   There is still time to sign up to volunteer on  the signup genius link.

Halloween ParadeWith Fall comes the annual Halloween Parade.  Our Fiske School Council members will be leading the Parade on Friday, October 30th at 9:00 a.m.  Students are invited to dress up and walk with their class through the neighborhood route.  In an effort to be safe, students are not allowed to wear masks, make-up or bring props for their costumes.  Students can wear their costumes to school but must change after the parade.

Please inform your child’s classroom teacher if your child will not be participating in the parade.  Ms. Verret will be hosting students in the library to make a fun fall craft.

Fiske Family Game NightFriday November 13, 20156-8pm at FiskeBring the whole family and come enjoy an evening of engaging math, logic and out-of-the-box thinking games.  Challenge your son or daughter to a game of Connect 4 or Chess, see who can be Farkled, test your fraction skills with fraction bingo, Knoodle your way up to the highest level, or gobble your opponent in Gobblet Gobblers (think tic tac toe with a twist).  There will be games for all ages, all with a math, logic or challenge theme.  A simple dinner will be served.
