“Honor the leap as well as the landing.” Shannon Donovan-Monti
Fiske Families,Winter has arrived! Sitting in the office typing this update, I can’t help but reflect on how much has been accomplished since first arriving at the Fiske School. It all started with the entire staff unpacking approximately 1,200 crates.During the first 100 school days at Fiske, I have seen teachers, staff, parents, and students working together to grow as a community that embraces the Fiske values; Fair, Inclusive, Safe, Kind and Encouraging, and the Growth Mindset methodology. Together we have supported the BOKS program, coordinated PTO fund raising events, solidified a school safety plan, developed after-school enrichment programs, empowered the Fourth and Fifth Grade Student Council to develop K-5 school assemblies, delivered student written thank you notes to our community helpers, and involved the entire student body in finding a Fiske mascot! These are just a few of the activities that have been cultivated through our work together. It has been a very quick 100 days and I am looking forward to all that will be accomplished during the next several months.
Coffee with the Interim Principal!Come join Rachel McGregor for coffee on Friday, February 12th at 8:45 a.m. in the library. This will be an opportunity to see where we have been and where we are going. Please bring your ideas and questions and we will provide the coffee and snacks.
After School Enrichment programWe are thrilled to announce that The Wellesley Recreation Department is working with our Fiske community to develop an after school STEM enrichment program for our students. The current proposal is to provide a Legos class for grade K-2 and an Engineering class for grades 3-5. Further details will be sent home next week. Classes will begin the week after vacation.

World Heritage Night Manisha Varma and Rimi Chaudhuri
Dear Fiske Families,
Travel the world on Wednesday, March 2nd at the Wellesley Middle School for World Heritage Night! Stroll from country to country from 3-5 pm as you and your students learn about different countries, heritages, and taste a variety of culinary creations! After trotting the globe, relax and indulge in the sights and sounds of the cultural show from 5-6:30 pm! We are lining up fantastic performances from classical and folk dances to rhythmic music. The cultural program will truly be a memorable one!
Merci, Grazie, Arigato, Dhanyawad, Sukriya, Gracias, Xie Xie, To-Dah…and THANK YOU to those who have already signed up to volunteer at our World Heritage Night! We still need many other countries within our student body to be represented and wonderful talent to be showcased. Wellesley Public Schools Website SurveyThanks to a WEF Grant, we are planning to do a major update to the WPS website http://www.wellesley.k12.ma.us/ over the next few months with our primary goal to make it mobile responsive for viewing on smartphones and tablets. At the same time we would like to take the opportunity to improve it in other ways so that it is meeting the needs our staff, parents, students and community members.
