The Fiske Science Fair is a great event for kids to explore, learn soething new and have fun through developing models, creating experiments and gaining exposure to the scientific method. Participation is encouraged and is entirely voluntary. Fiske students from Grades 1-5 are encouraged to participate (alone or in groups) in this fair by doing one of the following: Conduct an Experiment or Build a Model. Participant sign-up is on sign-up genius. Details are in the backpack mail flyer that was sent home earlier this month.2.Community Focus Group for Strategic Plan for Special Education
Dear WPS Community Members,
During the last eight months a group of commu;nity members representing parents, teachers, administrators and the School Committee have begun the important work of establishing a Strategic Plan for Special education in the Wellesley Public Schools.
A critical stip of the strategic planning process is to check in with our stakeholders who help inform this process. In order to capture this feedback, we invite you to participate in one of our forthcoming focus groups in which we will explore the gollowing questions: What are the strengths and weaknesses of special education in Wellesley? What do we see as the opportunities and threats in the next 3-5 years? What are our priorities for improvement? How will we monitor our progress?
Parent committee members will facilitate the focus groups on the following dates: April 7, 2016 and April 13, 2016—9 a.m. Wellesley Police Dept. Kingsbury Room (both dates) and 7 p.m. Wellesley Middle School Library (both dates.)
Regardless of your current involvement with the Special Education Department, we welcome you to participate in one of these events to help us strengthen our District programming. We will approach these forums by identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as they relate to supporting students.
In preparation we encourage you to review the District Strategic Plan which can be found at the foolowing link: https://wellesleyps.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/strategicplan-eversion.pdf. Should you have questions or need accommodations, please call June Ouellette at 781.446.6210 ext.5629 or email ouellettej@wellesleyps.org. We look forward to the conversation!
Sincerely, Lori Cimeno, Director of Student Services3.Safe Arrival Program
