Dear Fiske Families,

Thursday of this week, an announcement was sent home informing families that due to a technology difficulty progress reports will be sent home on Tuesday, February 7th.

Thank you to Julie Verret and the entire fourth grade class for hosting such an amazing performance of Escape to Freedom based on the book Follow the Drinking Gourd by Jeanette Winters. We would also like to thank METCO Director, Kalise Wornum, for narrating the story for the program. The children sang beautifully! It was clear that they used their growth mindset to learn and perform the musical selections. Thank you to our art teacher, Marie Cosgrove, for creating the beautiful quilts with the children. The entire Fiske community is proud of each and every one of our artists.

At the end of the Escape to Freedon program, Kalise Wornum presented our school with a beautiful Wellesley METCO 50th Anniversary banner. We are delighted to have this wonderful banner to remind us of our long history with the METCO program. If you would like to learn more about our METCO program please visit Wellesley METCO.

THE SCIENCE FAIR IS COMING!

The final day for signing up is Monday, February 6th!

We are also looking for volunteers to help during the Science Fair. Interested parents/guardians/staff, you can sign-up here.

World Heritage Night is coming!
Join the incredible celebration of our community on Wednesday, March 3rd at the Wellesley Middle School. In collaboration with the World of Wellesley, the Fiske community puts together a colorful global journey showcasing the countries and heritage of our diverse community. Please consider signing up to cook some of your family’s favorite cultural dishes and provide a poster board showcasing your heritage! It’s a wonderful event and something that is truly unique to Fiske.

This year, kids will have passport books which can be stamped when they try something from a different country. We will give out small prizes to these adventurous culinary travelers!

Fitness and Health Open House/Jump for Heart Fundraise.

Please come join your child during fitness and health classes, the schedule is below. During these classes you are invited to participate in many jumping stations. We will be using short ropes, long ropes, aerobic steps, potato sacs, hippity hops, and many other fun pieces of equipment.

We will be also raising money to donate to the American Heart Association. This part is completely voluntary. Fundraising forms will be sent home with your children and they will walk you through the fundraising details.

Last year we raised almost $4,141.00. This was our best year yet! The American Heart Association has generously donated many balls and ropes to our recess equipment and also many Field Day stations are made possible by generous donations from the Heart Association. They are very grateful for our school and all of our generosity. To make an online donation or to gather more information please go to heart.org/jump and search for Fiske. Please return all forms by Feb. 28th.

We hope to see you in class!
