Help Wellesley Go Idle Free in 2023

On Tuesday, April 25th volunteers from Wellesley Green Schools and the parent community will be walking the car line at pickup time, inviting community members to take the pledge to “Go Idle Free in 2023.”

Idling is unhealthy: More than 30% of Wellesley’s greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation, and 30% of Wellesley’s traffic is school-related. The EPA reports that air toxins from idling are known to cause cancer, respiratory effects like asthma, and other serious health effects. It is also expensive: Each year in the United States, personal-vehicle idling wastes about 3 billion gallons of fuel. And getting caught idling can cost you money in fines. 

Additional volunteers are needed during car line to help collect signatures and hand out magnets. Together we can really make a difference! Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Click here for the Signup Genius.
