We had our first five day week, and it went by quickly! Thank you to the teachers for hosting back to school night for our parents/guardians. Thank you also to the PTO for sharing their achievements and goals for the year. Finally, thanks to Priya Datta, Kenneth Largess, and Danielle Nixon for being parent representatives on the Fiske School Council.
PTO
Our first PTO meeting of the year will be this Monday, September 19th from 8:45-9:45 in the cafeteria. During this meeting our Wild West co-chairs, Erica Flagg and Joanna LaPlaca, will provide an update on the Wild West. There will also be a principal’s update and information regarding current committee needs for the year. Come join the meeting and be a part of the outstanding Fiske PTO!
BOKS is Back!
We are thrilled to announce that BOKS will be starting on Tuesday, September 20th from 7:30 a.m.- 8:15 a.m. BOKS is a wonderful morning program that provides children with the opportunity to exercise before the start of the school day. Permission slips for the program were sent home this week. If you would like your child to participate, please fill out the enrollment form and return it to the front office. There is an additional form attached to this email if needed.

A message from our Wild West Committee
The Wild West Round Up is next Saturday, September 24th from 10-2pm. The team is working hard to round up the barn babies, blow up the bouncy houses and dust off some of our classic school fair games. However, we need help the day of the event. It takes more than 400 volunteer hours to run Wild West. We’re asking every Fiske family to work at least one shift. Please sign up for a two-hour shift between 10-2 at WW Volunteer Website. Don’t forget to wear your Wild West t-shirt!

Please find additional information regarding Student Records as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) attached to this email. This information was not included in the 2016-2017 WPS Elementary Parent Handbook but has been added at this time.

School Arrival
School arrival begins at 8:15 a.m. Please do not drop your child off before 8:15 as there are no adults supervising the playground before 8:15 a.m. The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. Please make every effort to have your child arrive at school on time.
Safety Reminders
Arrival and dismissal are times of the day when we all have to take extra care while entering and leaving the school parking lots. Please drive slowly, as children are getting into cars and crossing at the crosswalks. Please DO NOT park in the upper parking lot or on Hastings Street during these times of the day. Cars pulling out of parking spots cause an unsafe situation for walkers, cars in car line, and school busses. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Car Line
The car line is moving along. Please be mindful that the car line is a “live” line. This means caregivers must stay in their car and move to the end of the circle. Once all cars are stopped, children are instructed to walk to their cars. Do not pass or pull around cars in car line as this creates an unsafe situation for the Fiske children and faculty. If you would like to park at dismissal, then please drive down to the lower parking lot and walk up the new path to meet your child at the flagpole.
Car line signs for dashboards were sent home last week. Please put your sign (labeled with your last name) in the front window of your car so it can be easily seen. Names will be called out to students once all cars are stopped.
