Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to you with an important reminder about the flu vaccine. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) in conjunction with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) have mandated that all students, both in school and in the Remote Learning School, receive a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020. This includes students Pre K – grade 12.

The influenza vaccine is always important to receive in order to reduce the risk of getting sick from influenza and spreading influenza to others. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the influenza vaccine is critical in order to reduce the impact of respiratory illness, to protect our vulnerable populations from severe illness and to decrease the burden on our healthcare system.

As with all of the mandated immunizations, please send me documentation that your child has received the vaccine (this can be sent via backpack or as an email attachment). If you have already completed this process, thank you.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Stay healthy!

Sincerely,

Nurse Zinta
