Dear Bates Families,
As the year comes to a close, I would like to thank you for allowing us the privilege of teaching your children. We have had a wonderful year, and we appreciate all that you do to support our students, teachers and Bates community. Before we say goodbye, I’ve included some important information below.
Bates staffing configuration for 2018-19
Next year we will have three sections of each grade, K-5:
Kindergarten: Rita Cameron, Katie Catalano, Amy Kapinos
Grade 1: Franny Jacobson, Jessica Mead, Miranda Wolfskill
Grade 2: Laura Kelly, Nicole Melanson, Pam Rosenbloom
Grade 3: Deb Cohen, Katy Comstock, Heather Macchi
Grade 4: Irene Gruenfeld, Mara Hochberg, Ellen Theriault
Grade 5: Abby Eustis, Erica Ilyin, Molly Perkins
Powerschool Parent Portal
You will have access to the Powerschool Parent Portal on August 6 to update your account and sign permissions, after which you will be able to see your child’s teacher assignment for 2018-19. You can anticipate an email from me in July with important information about the year ahead, but for now, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 29, our first day of school.
Next Week
On Tuesday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m. we will hold a Fond Farewell ceremony for our fifth grade students in the gym. Families and friends of fifth graders are invited.
On Wednesday, June 20, our last day of school, we will say a final goodbye to our fifth graders with a special “clap out.” Students K-4, faculty and staff will line the halls just prior to the 12:00 p.m. dismissal. Beginning a few minutes before 12:00, our fifth graders will walk through the Bates halls one last time, with the Bates community clapping and cheering them on. Families are asked to wait outside during the clap out. For those who wish to observe or participate in the clap out, you are encouraged to stand on the sides of the front walkway and clap for our fifth graders as they exit. Thank you.
As a reminder, Wednesday, June 20 is the last day of school and is an early dismissal at 12:00 p.m.
