Fiske Families,

Good Afternoon. Please remember there is no school on Monday in observance of Columbus Day. Best wishes for a fun fall weekend with your family and friends.

The Falcons  had another Fisketastic  week at Fiske.  On Wednesday over 180 children participated in National Walk to School Day. Ms. O’Sullivan’s students are the proud winners of the Golden Sneaker award and an extra Fitness and Health class for having the most children participate in  Walk to School day.  Thank you to Mrs. Hindmarsh, Mrs. Verret, Mrs. Gerst and the Student Council for hosting this fun event. Our Student Council members are  Hadley Brown, Sanah Goenka, Sophie Barnes, Spencer Helmer, Weston Helmer, Jacklyn Griffin, Elizabeth Hoerter , Delaney Dyer, Chandu Christopher, Sana Samal, Jessica Schumer and Katerina Fotiadis

In addition to our walking, on Wednesday the 5th grade participated in a variety of Project Adventure team building activities.  Thank you to Mrs. Gerst for planning this morning of fun.  The Kindergarten classes went apple picking and came back with some very tasty apples.  Thank you to Mrs. Brophy and Mrs. Laufer for planning such a fun field trip.

Please remember that if you have an unexpected change of dismissal to call the office before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays.  We can not guarantee that messages will get to the child if calls come after those designated times.  Thank you

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

Thanks to all who have sent in Box Tops! Earning money for Fiske with Box Tops for Education is so easy and FUN! Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for Fiske and they add up so quickly. Did you know that Fiske has earned over $7,000 in all the years we have been participating in the Box Tops program?  It really does make a difference for our school!

The first official deadline for submitting our Box Tops to the program’s headquarters in Michigan is the end of this month, so please continue to clip Box Tops from the products you already purchase for your household and send in as many unexpired Box Tops as you can in the next few weeks! The class that sends in the most Box Tops this month will earn an extra recess and new playground balls! Mrs. Mendoza’s class (2M) is currently in the lead and Mrs. Hanlon’s class (4H) is not far behind! Please send in your unexpired Box Tops in either an envelope or baggie labeled with the student’s name and class no later than October 27th. As always, Box Tops do not have to be precisely trimmed. Thank you for your support!

Halloween Parade

Parents, guardians and friends, we are excited to have you join us for our annual Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m. The  students will parade out of the school lobby and walk along the sidewalk in front of the school to the primary playground. The parade will conclude by circling the back field and reentering the building through the back doors. The parade route will be marked by cones.  Fiske’s Student Council members will be leading the parade.

Please be aware that students should refrain from wearing masks, face paint or makeup and leave all props at home.

Please inform your child’s classroom teacher if your child will not be participating in the parade. There will be a fall activity in the library for students who will not be participating in the parade.

Wellesley Service League’s

Annual Toy Drive

For over 40 years, the Wellesley Service League has been collecting toys to distribute to Wellesley Friendly Aid families in the Wellesley community.

Now is a great time to clean out those toys your kids have outgrown or aren’t playing with anymore and donate them to the Toy Drive. We accept new and nearly new toys, books, puzzles, bikes and sporting equipment.

So clean out and help make some less fortunate members of our Wellesley community very happy this holiday season!

Look for the Wellesley Service League toy collection boxes during September and October at all the Wellesley schools and at the Wellesley Free Library. If your item is very large or it is more convenient you can drop it off in the basement of the Wellesley Friendly Aid building.  If you have any questions please contact Michelle Gallagher at mamgallagher@gmail.com

Have a wonderful long weekend.
