I hope you are all enjoying April vacation. It is hard to believe we are on the final stretch to the end of the year, 8.5 weeks and summer is here. There are so many events between now and the end of the year so please be sure to check out the “Important Dates” section of the Friday Fiske News. Our first week back the Fiske staff is hosting the Fiske Reads event on Thursday, April 26th from 6:00-7:00 pm. We hope to see you all there!

Calling all Fiske Families! Come join us in celebrating our community diversity through books. This night will be an opportunity for families to hear guest readers read multicultural and bilingual books and visit teachers hosting reading activities in classrooms. Choose any two breakout sessions to attend. Students must be accompanied by an adult in all sessions. This is sure to be an exciting night for all! We look forward to having you join us for this amazing night of celebrating our cultures through books.
Music Around the World
Please join Fiske for the biggest musical event of the year, Music Around the World! Wednesday, May 9th in the Fiske Gym. K-5 students will perform songs and dances from
Mexico, Ghana, Nigeria, Japan, Russia, USA and Israel.
BOKS
When considering programing for Fiske, we always focus on what is best for children. Research consistently indicates that aerobic activity leads to increased concentration and academic performance. With that in mind, I can not thank Jen Bonniewell enough for running the BOKS program for the past several years. She is now passing the baton to Danielle Nixon. Danielle has organized a BOKS leader training on Tuesday, April 24th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for those who are interested in seeing this program continue.
