Blue Fiske Falcon

Fiske Families,

Today Fiske had our first emergency drill with all of our students.  I am pleased to share your children did an outstanding job. As one child said at the end of the day, “That was awesome!”  Thank you to the Wellesley Police Department and the Fiske Staff for facilitating such a well organized drill.

Please note that fourth and fifth grade students will be taking the ELA MCAS on Monday, April 9th and Tuesday, April 10th.  Please make every effort to have your child arrive to school by 8:30 a.m . Students who arrive late will not be able to take the test and a retest date will be scheduled.

Wellesley Recreation Department Summer Programs

The Wellesley Recreation Department is now taking registrations for what was previously known as the summer WINGS program at Sprague School.  The program is now called Recreation Enrichment Classes. This program includes exciting classes such as Wicked Cool Vet School, Gadgets & Contraptions and Lego Mania to name a few.  To find out more information please review the attached brochure.

Phones and SmartWatches

It has been noticed that some students are bringing cell phones and smartwatches to school. Please refer to our guidelines in the Insider’s Guide to Fiske p. 17.  These guidelines have been noted below.

Student Cell Phone and SmartWatch Guidelines:

Student cell phones and smartwatches must be turned off and remain in the backpack during school hours. Students may not use personal devices that can make calls or send texts during school hours.  Students should not use their cell phones or smartphones on a school bus on route to home or school.

If a cell phone or smartwatch is  used in school:

First time- The principal will hold the cell phone or smartwatch  for the rest of the day and the student will pick it up in the office.  Parents will be notified.

Second time– The principal will hold the cell phone or smartwatch  for the rest of the day and the parent will be asked to pick it up at their convenience.

Third time- The principal will hold the cell phone or smartwatch for the rest of the day and meet with the parents to develop a plan.

Before School Care

Each year Fiske offers before school care.  To run the program we need 10 children to enroll.  If you are interested in before school care for the 2018-2019 school year please email me at mcgregorr@wellesleyps.org.
