Blue Fiske Falcon

Fiske Families,

October is fire safety month. On Wednesday Kindergarten and first grade participated in a fire safety assembly presented by the Wellesley Fire Department.  Take a moment to discuss with your children your family safety plan in the event of a fire at home.

This is also a  good time to be reminded of the safety protocols and trainings that are in place to assure the safety of Fiske students, staff and community.  At Fiske, we have security doors. Visitors are required to ring the bell and state the reason they are visiting Fiske. Visitors then enter the building and sign in at the office. All visitors will be given a pass to wear while they are in the building. Visitors should not enter the building without signing in at the office.  In addition to the security doors, the entire school has an intercom system, classroom doors with locks, motion detector lighting, parking lot lighting, and surveillance cameras.

Along with these safety features, the Fiske staff is working closely with the Wellesley Police Department (WPD) and other town emergency personnel to enhance our security protocols and training.   This includes staff participation in an A.L.I.C.E.  (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training that includes an active shooter simulation facilitated by the Wellesley Police Department (WPD) this fall.  Throughout the school year, students will participate in practice emergency evacuation drills, fire drills and bus evacuation drills. All of these protocols are practised so our students and staff are prepared for emergencies at school.
