Fiske Families,

A huge thank you to all the parents/guardians who provided lunch for the staff on Wednesday. There were so many delicious choices of salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts.  It was a lovely treat to have lunch made and set up for us.

Thank you to the Bixby, Bubna and Patel families for sharing traditional Diwali treats with our staff last week. These delicious  snacks were appreciated by all of our staff.

Picture of Fire Safety Presentation

On Wednesday our friends from the Wellesley Fire Department came to visit the Kindergarten and First Grade classes to teach them about fire safety.  The children  learned what to do in the event of a fire and how to keep themselves safe. The firefighters reminded us of how important it is to practice home fire drills twice a year.  As part of these drills it is important to designate a family meeting spot in the event of a fire.

Fiske Birthday Book Program

We are thrilled to announce the return of the Fiske Birthday Book Program.  Through this program parents, relatives and friends can donate funds to purchase a library book  in honor of a child’s birthday. This is a wonderful way to give children a sense of ownership of the Fiske Library and to support all students’ love of reading.  The procedure is as follows:

Complete the online form and send a check to the front office for $20 made payable to The Wellesley Public Schools. (Please write Fiske Birthday Book on the memo line.) This amount covers average book price plus processing costs. If this amount is too costly for your family, please contact our school social worker Michelle DeSantis at desantism@wellesleyps.org. We would like all students to have a birthday book if they choose to. Your child will be registered in the program and a book plate including their name, age, birthday month and day will be placed in the donated book.

During your child’s birthday month they will choose a book to donate from a wide range of new books that have been preselected by librarian Pam Allen. If your child has already celebrated their birthday this school year, they may select a birthday book upon return of the form below.

Thank you,

Pam Allen at allenp@wellesleyps.org.

Parents and guardians are invited to join us for our annual Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31st at 8:45 a.m.  The parade route will be clearly marked with cones.   If your child/children is/are participating in the parade, costumes should reflect our Fiske Fundamentals; Fair, Inclusive, Safe, Kind and Encouraging. Children should not wear costumes that promote stereotypes or bias towards any groups of people.  In addition, children should not wear masks, wigs or face paint.  We also  ask that all props are left at home.
