Hello Hardy Families:
It doesn’t seem possible that we are in the Thanksgiving season already. While each day is filled with joy and reasons to be thankful, Thanksgiving time often reminds us to be a bit more aware of our gratitude. Hardy is an amazing community of students, parents and staff. I for one am extremely thankful to have the opportunity to work in such a wonderful community of parents, students and staff. Thank you for everything you do to help make Hardy such a kind and thoughtful learning environment for our children and staff.
Thanks to the PTO generosity, all of the Hardy teachers have T-shirts!
Book Group:
Just a reminder about the parent book club that will be meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 9th from 6:30 to 7:30 in my office. Lisa Goodman and I will meet with parents to discuss the book Odd Girl Out by Rachel Simmons. Everyone is welcome! (even if you don’t finish the book)
Name cards for car pick up:
Janet sent home additional copies of the name cards for those families who pick up their children at the end of the day. Please be sure to have that displayed so we can see it clearly as you approach and as you are waiting.
One clever Hardy parent put hers on the visor so that when she needs it it is there. If you don’t put the name card on the visor then make sure we can see it as you approach; that means you may need to hold it up.
Supervision:
Just a reminder that students are welcomed to the playground beginning at 8:15. We do not have staff supervising prior to that time.
Students are not allowed to walk through the parking lot unless accompanied by an adult. A parking lot is not a safe place for children to be walking unsupervised.
Parents should not be dropping off in the front parking lot. Prior to 8:30 all students should be dropped off on Hardy Road. If your child is late and you arrive past 8:30 you should find a parking space or use the circular drive in front of the school to drop off as long as the bus is gone.
Parent volunteers:
We are so fortunate to have so many parent volunteers supporting the classrooms in so many ways. To ensure a safe school environment all parents and volunteers should follow the following procedures when coming into the school:
- Report directly to the office.
- Sign in and get a volunteer badge.
- Make sure to let Janet know the purpose of your visit and that she knows you have signed in.
- When you are done, return the badge, sign out and let Janet know you are leaving.
If you have an appointment or are volunteering in the building and you want to speak to another staff person or drop off any materials to another location, report to the office and share your request with Janet and she will help you address your situation appropriately.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
