Hello Hardy Families: It is that time of year to begin planning for the fall.  Part of that process includes establishing classroom placements.  We take this process very seriously and spend a great deal of time and effort creating the best groupings possible for Hardy students. While we do not take requests for specific teachers, you can share any special academic and or social/emotional concerns with me that you feel may impact your child’s classroom placement.  If you wish to share such information, please send me an email stating these concerns by April 18th.  Please click this link to view a full description of the placement process:   Parent Placement Request Letter April 2016.docx    We have some grade 5 student helping out with the morning drop off.  Brady Renzella, Tyler Lack, Sarah Hatch, Ruth Gittleman, Rebeca Kamens-Gil and Jocelyn Li will be taking turns assisting children as they exit their car to support a smooth drop off.   The annual Wellesley Public Schools Student Art Show is here! Artwork from students in elementary, middle, and high school are currently on view at the Wellesley Free Library.  Each school is proudly represented, including an incredible selection of work by Hardy students in grades 3 and 5. A reception will be held on April 26th from 5-7PM. The exhibit will be shown from April 8th until April 27th. The parent book group will be meeting to discuss the book Walking up White on April 12th from 6:30 to 7:30 in my office.  All are welcome.   Our World Language team, Barbara Bennett and Vixen Peare made a presentation to the School Committee a couple weeks ago sharing some of their successes from this year.  This was an opportunity for the greater community to hear how the two pilot schools, Sprague and Hardy are progressing in the implementation of FLES.  Next year grade 3 students at the two pilot schools will receive FLES.  At the other five elementary schools, FLES will be offered to grades K to 2.  Our students are loving the Spanish instruction and many of our teachers are using some of the language and vocabulary in their classrooms to carry over what is learned.   Our students have been working so hard on the MCAS.  Some of the days are long and they have shown that they have the endurance and persistence to do their best.  I am very proud of them. Grade 4 students made some inspirational posters for their classroom and I have posted them on my twitter account, Charlene Cook @Hardyprincipal. Reminder From the School Nurse – Any student who has sustained an injury that has been treated by a physician or in an emergency room and will have restricted activity for a limited period of time  (cast, stitches, sprains, fractures, concussions, etc.), must bring a note or fax from the physician stating the nature of the restrictions and when the student can resume participation in recess and Health and Fitness class.  The student will not be allowed to participate in Health and Fitness class and recess, until this note is received. Thank you for following this school policy to prevent any further injury to your child.  From the WHS: The entire community is welcome to join us for the WHS Junior Class Auction on April 9, 2016 at 7:00 pm.
