Hello Hardy Families,
Here are a few updates of both recent and upcoming special events at Hardy:
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Update
This past week we had our first meeting of the Hardy Staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. This meeting was facilitated by Dr. Charmie Curry, Wellesley’s director of DE&I. As part of this meeting, we discussed topics including racial identity, equity literacy, unconscious bias and culturally responsive practices. Our goal is to normalize our discussions about racial bias and to bring coherence to the district’s ongoing equity work. Stay tuned for updates on the work of the Hardy Staff DE&I committee in future principal letters.
Community Service Dog Visit to Hardy
The Wellesley Police Department has a community service dog named Winnie who has been visiting the Wellesley elementary schools over the past few weeks. School Resource Officer Kathy Porier, the dog’s handler Officer Tana Dicenso, and Winnie will be visiting Hardy within the next two weeks on both a cohort A day and a cohort B day (with the first visit possibly being as soon as tomorrow). During the morning recess block, students will have the chance to meet Winnie. We’ll adhere to the following protocols:
*Physical distancing will be maintained at all times
*Students can pet the dog if they choose but it must be done individually
*Hand hygiene will be done after any student pets the dog
If you’d rather not have your child participate due to allergies or anxieties, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher.
We look forward to welcoming Winnie to Hardy!
School Spirit Days
On Thursday and Friday of this upcoming week, we will have our next round of School Spirit days. Students are encouraged to wear their Hardy gear or Hardy colors to school to show their school spirit. Go Huskies!
Have a great week!
Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
