Hello Hardy Families,

Highlight of the past week:
We had a virtual Kindergarten Orientation as we welcomed new and returning families to Hardy! We look forward to welcoming in the Hardy School class of 2027 in the fall!

MCAS information for 3rd-5th grade families:
This week our students in the third, fourth and fifth grade will take the first MCAS test. This year the MCAS test has been shortened to one test session per subject area. As a reminder, the dates for each MCAS test are listed below:

  • May 10th:  Grade 4 ELA

  • May 11th:  Grade 5 ELA

  • May 14th:  Grade 3 ELA

  • May 25th:  Grade 5 Math

  • May 27th:  Grade 4 Math

  • May 28th:  Grade 3 Math

  • June 1st:  Grade 5 Science

Your child’s teacher has prepared your child for the MCAS by teaching our standards based curriculum since September. In addition, students have practiced using the TestNav test delivery software on their iPads and have become familiar with the format of MCAS test items.

We want to encourage our students to do their best on the MCAS, but not to stress about this test. It is important to note that the MCAS test is untimed, so each student will have as long as they need during the school day to complete the test. Please help prepare your child for this test by making sure he/she gets proper rest each night and eats a full, nutritious breakfast each day.

It is very important that each child arrive on time for school, as we will begin testing as soon as possible. It is also important that your child bring a charged iPad to school on each day of MCAS testing.

If your child is sick or otherwise unable to attend school on a MCAS test date, he/she will be administered the test on a make-up date.

Thank you for your support.

District/School Report Card:
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in a variety of different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available HERE.

Return to School Listening Session:
The Wellesley Public Schools will host a listening session to gather the opinions, beliefs and attitudes about the reopening of schools this spring, and later in the fall, and the impacts of COVID19 on community members. We value the voices of all community members in the District’s ongoing decision-making. Please join us on 5/19/2021, 6:00- 7:30 p.m., via Zoom. You may register HERE.

Boston Bridges Program & Upcoming Event:
The METCO program and Friends of Wellesley METCO, Inc. (FWMI) are partnering with the Boston Bridges Initiative Program to create connections for better communities. The Boston Bridges initiative program is designed to promote meaningful social interactions between city and suburban families. As a partner of this initiative, we are adapting their mission in helping to foster lasting friendships and dialogue among students and families within racially diverse communities and between suburban and urban communities. We plan to do this by facilitating four events within the next year.
