Dear Hardy families,

Highlights from the past week:

*We had a special virtual CAS enrichment program – “Ooch, the Yoyo guy.” Ooch provided a highly engaging presentation using yo-yos while teaching a helpful social-emotional message about how to make a mistake.

*We shared with students a pre-recorded May/June assembly video. See link below.

Assembly Video

For the months of May/June, the Kindergarten classes put together a prerecorded assembly about being social detectives. This video was shared with our students on Thursday. See link below:

Hardy METCO family liaison/Family Friends liaison-

Looking for one Boston parent and one Wellesley parent to serve as co-liaisons & coordinators

Attention Boston families & Wellesley families: we are looking for one Boston parent and one Wellesley parent to serve as METCO family/family friend co-liaison for the upcoming school year. Here is a letter from Hardy parent Patty Sibanda who currently serves as the METCO family liaison that helps to describe the role. Thanks for your consideration!

Hello everyone,

My name is Patty Sibanda and I’m Ethan & Noah Alexis’s mom.  Ethan is in 5th grade and Noah is in 6th.  Noah and Ethan are METCO students and have had such a great experience at Hardy.  I can’t believe it’s our last year at Hardy!

As some of you may know, Dawn Woods (Wellesley parent) and I have been Hardy METCO Rep/Family Friends Coordinators since 2015.  Since this is our last year I am reaching out to see if you may be interested in the role.  The relationships between Boston and Wellesley families are extremely important.  It means a lot for the kids and the parents to have a connection in Wellesley and share relationships.

As a Family Friend coordinator, your role would be to help pair incoming METCO families with Wellesley families at the beginning of the school year.  Pairing takes place in Kindergarten (or when new METCO families enroll) and the families (Wellesley/Boston) remain paired until they move to middle school. I will also commit to speaking with anyone who might have questions about this role.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Patty

If you have questions, feel free to reach out to Patty directly at: phathine45@gmail.com
If you are interested in serving in this way, please email me directly at: smithg@wellesleyps.org
