Dear Hardy families,
As part of CAS (Creative Arts & Sciences) programming, the Kindergarten students had a visit from the Discovery Museum, in which students learned about forces of motion.
School Council Update
The Hardy School Council is developing a STEAM based learning initiative for the 2023-2024 school year that is tied to the school building project. We are calling this initiative Project Build Hardy. Each month there will be a different theme that includes elements such as design/building architecture, foundation/structure, mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical. We are planning to invite guest speakers (who are tied to the various focus areas) for school-wide presentations and having hands-on classroom-based activities that help to reinforce learning concepts. A special thanks to Carolyn Collins, PreK-5 Department Head for Science, Technology and Engineering, who is helping to support this initiative by writing a grant to the Wellesley Education Foundation on behalf of the Hardy School. Stay tuned for more information about Project Build Hardy and the work of the Council in future principal letters.
Webinar about School Building Project
We are planning a webinar for parents about the school building project that will take place on Wednesday, January 18th at 8:00 PM. This will include a presentation by the designers of the Hardy project who will share an overview of the plans for the new school. We will also share information about the schedule/timeline of construction and plans for outdoor activities such as recess during construction. In next week’s newsletter, I’ll share the link for this meeting.
Have a great week!
Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
