Dear Hardy families,

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST WEEK:

On Friday, we had an all-school meeting featuring both Hardy & Hunnewell 4th graders. Students did a great job teaching the community about kindness. As part of this presentation, students shared about a special kindness week planned for this week at Hardy (see more information below).

On Friday, we also had a Crazy Hat Spirit Day. Students had fun showing off their special hats.

KINDNESS WEEK
This week we are having a Kindness Week at Hardy. As part of this students are being encouraged to do an act of kindness at home. Examples could include helping with an extra chore around the house, helping with a younger sibling, or making a card for a family member or friend. Teachers will be sending home a Kindness certificate that parents/guardians can complete letting the teacher know what act of kindness has been shown. In the classroom, time will be devoted for students to share out their acts of kindness and will be acknowledged with a kindness sticker that can be worn throughout the day. All teachers & staff members are looking forward to asking students wearing these stickers about their acts of kindness so there can be congratulatory sentiments expressed. Hopefully this special week will help spread kindness in homes, in our school community, and the community at large.

PICKUP PATROL
Please make changes in PickUp Patrol if your child’s dismissal changes for the day or several days at a time. This is particularly helpful on Wednesdays when, for example, many 5th grade students walk to Fells, or for any K-5 student who may be staying for the Rec. Dept. after school programs. Thank you for your cooperation!

SPIRIT DAY
On Friday, we will have our monthly Spirit Day, as students are invited to wear their Husky and Hawks gear to school. We look forward to students showing their school spirit!

SPECIAL THANKS
Thanks to the 2nd grade parents for providing staff with a luncheon this past Wednesday. It was a delicious treat and we are appreciative!

Thanks to the PTO for providing new recess equipment to help students remain active and engaged. We have already rolled out a new giant Connect 4 board, which has been a big hit. Next, we will soon roll out a pickleball set, following some pickleball lessons from Mr. Guzzi in Fitness & Health classes. In a few weeks, we are also excited to have a new Gaga Ball Pit for student use. We are very appreciative of the PTO’s ongoing support!

Have a great week!

Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
