Dear Hardy families,
It’s hard to believe this is the last week of school!
Highlights from the past week:
On Tuesday, we had Field Day. Kudos to Mr. Guzzi for planning this special day for our school community. Also thanks to the parent volunteers who helped to support this event.
On Wednesday, we had a June Jaunt Walk & Roll to School day. Kudos again to Mr. Guzzi for planning this event.
On Friday, we had our Spring Concert. Our band, orchestra, and chorus students did a great job performing! Kudos to Mr. Corcoran, Mr. McCloud, and Mr. Adams for their efforts preparing students!
Staffing information for the 2024-2025 school year
I am pleased to announce that we have hired Ashley Van Treuren to serve as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) next year. Ashley has most recently served as a BCBA in a charter school in Boston.
I am sad to share the news that two of our dedicated teaching assistants will be moving on from Hardy. I want to thank Gail Musikavanu and Maria Temple for their efforts during their respective tenures serving at Hardy. They will be missed!
End of Year Social
As a reminder, we will have a PTO planned end-of-year meet up Monday evening from 4:30-5:15 PM at the Upham School. A Kona Ice truck will be on site. This is a great opportunity to not only see other current Hardy families but also to meet incoming Hardy families who have also been invited to this event.
Lights Out Event
Another event that is also scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) evening from 6:00-7:30 PM is our Lights Out Event serving as an opportunity for the community to walk through the Hardy building one last time before it is taken down. Hero the Husky will also be present to say hello!
Attention 5th grade parents: Moving Up Ceremony
On Wednesday at 10:00 AM, we will have the 5th grade Moving Up Ceremony. Families of our graduates are invited to attend. This will take place in the Hardy gym. We look forward to recognizing our 5th grade students as they move up to middle school!
New Hardy School Open House for Hardy families
As we look ahead to the start of the 2024-2025 school year, I want to remind everyone that we will have an open house of the new building for Hardy families on Tuesday, August 27th from 2:00-3:00 PM. We look forward to being able to provide an opportunity for all families to see the new building prior to the first day of school!
Summer Reading News from the Library!
This summer we want all of our Hardy readers to keep reading! We put together Summer Reading packets and distributed them to all students this week. Each packet includes a bookmark, book suggestions for summer reading, and a reading challenge.
Students in grades K-4 have a Reading Bingo challenge to complete and return to the Library in September. Students in grade 5 have middle school specific reading requirements.
All Summer Reading info can also be found on the Wellesley Public Schools Summer Reading Site. You will also find links to that site and more at the Hardy Library Website
Finally, students can also participate in the Wellesley Free Library or Boston Public Library Summer Reading programs at the same time!
Please ask your student to share the packet with you and Happy Reading!!!
Report Cards
Report Cards will be made available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal on Thursday at 3 PM.
Temporary Path
The construction team asked that I pass along the news that the temporary path will be closed as of this Friday, June 14th and will not reopen.
Lost and Found
We have a table in the main hallway set up with lost and found items. Feel free to drop by this week to look for lost items. Anything not picked up by Wednesday afternoon will be donated to charity on Thursday.
Special Thanks
I want to thank all of the teachers & staff members for all their hard work and dedication! It is their commitment to our students working tirelessly to help promote academic and social-emotional growth that has helped students to be successful this year.
I also want to thank all of the parents for their ongoing support this year. I especially want to thank the PTO who did so much to support the life of our school. I am sincerely grateful!
Wishing you a safe and fun-filled summer vacation!
Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
Principal
