Dear Hardy families,

Looking forward to seeing parents/guardians this Wednesday for Back to School Night (see more information below)!

Highlight from the past week

Kindergarten students began attending full days.

Back to School Night schedule

As a reminder, Back to School Night is a parent/guardian event only (students should not be in attendance unless parents are planning to utilize the babysitting option, which is offered in the library).

The schedule is:

Grades 3-5 classroom presentations:   5:45-6:15 PM

Principal/PTO welcome in cafeteria:  6:20-6:40 PM

Grades K-2 classroom presentations:  6:45-7:15 PM

School Council Parent Representative Election

As shared in the previous Principal letter, we are having an election for the parent representatives on the School Council. There will be an electronic ballot emailed from the PTO to families later this week. We have three candidates running for three openings. There will also be a write in selection. These parent representative candidates include:

Dom Lamas

My name is Dom Lamas, husband of Kate Lamas, and dad of Julia (5A) and Daniel (3M). Professionally, my work is in contracts management and negotiations for Raytheon. Additionally, I serve on the board of a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of patients at Shattuck Hospital. It would be an honor to support our Hardy School as a parent representative on the school council.

Zhuhua Cai

My name is Zhuhua Cai, mother of Caiden (4M) and Riley (an 8th grader at WMS and a Hardy graduate). I am a chemical engineer working on next-generation EV battery development, focusing on extending driving range and improving charging speed. My family moved to Wellesley in early 2020, and we all love the Hardy community! Over the past four years, I’ve volunteered as a room parent and as the grade-level CAS representative. I hope to have the opportunity to join the Hardy School Council and continue supporting the Hardy community!

Maura Renzella

Hi, my name is Maura Renzella, I am the Youth Director and Community Social Worker for the Town of Wellesley and a past Hardy PTO President.  I am the proud mother of three Hardy School Alumni Griffin – 23, Brady – 20, and Caleigh – 18, and currently have Cailin in the 1st grade.  Fun fact: my husband Jeff is also a Hardy Alum!  I am looking forward to serving on the Hardy School Council as a parent rep to build community and ensure all voices are heard throughout our beautiful new building.

Looking forward to seeing you on Back to School Night!

Respectfully yours,

Grant Smith

Principal
