Hello Hardy families,

It was great to see many of you at Back to School Night!

On Wednesday, we had Back to School Night as parents/guardians visited Hardy and learned more about the year ahead (see more information below).

Back to School Night Slide Deck

For those who may have not been in attendance at Back to School Night, as part of the Principal/PTO welcome portion of the evening, we shared the following slide deck.

School Council Parent Representatives

I am happy to announce that candidates Dom Lamas, Zhuhua Cai, and Maura Renzella have been voted in to serve as Parent Representatives to serve on the Hardy School Council. We are appreciative of their service in this way!

A Conversation with School Committee Members

Hardy parents and caregivers are invited to meet with two members of the School Committee on Wednesday, October 2 from 9-10 a.m. on Zoom. This will be an informal discussion regarding current Committee activities as well as an opportunity for Q&A. I will also be in attendance, as will the Superintendent.

The School Committee has five elected members who serve 3-year terms. In addition to supporting the core values, vision and mission of the Wellesley Public Schools, the Committee’s responsibilities are to develop and manage school policies; support the allocation of resources by overseeing budget & facilities; hire and review the superintendent of schools; and advocate for the school district.  Zoom link for the meeting is here

Hardy Cares

For Hardy families facing an extraordinary event or having difficulty meeting needs of their children such as hospitalization, a loss, surgery, a birth, school supplies, clothing needs etc., Hardy Cares exists to help support these needs. If you have a need, please reach out to any of the following staff members: Principal Grant Smith, Assistant Principal Kellie O’Brien, Psychologist Lisa Goodman, Psychologist Rebecca Hoitash or School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker Julie McMenamy. We will exercise confidentiality in sharing needs to Hardy Cares organizers.

How can you support Hardy families in need of help?  Simply email: hardyschoolcares@gmail.com to be included on the Hardy Cares distribution list! You will be informed about our community’s specific needs throughout the year, including opportunities to:

  • Donate gently-used winter clothing/gear, baby items, etc. as needed by Hardy families

  • Donate gift cards to help Hardy families purchase basic supplies

  • Deliver a meal to a Hardy family in need of support

  • When safe, provide carpool rides for Hardy students who do not have a ride to school during cold winter mornings (especially when temperatures dip below 25 degrees)
