Hello Hardy
Highlights from the past week!
On Friday January 2nd, we had our class buddies time for the month of January as well as our Penguin Promenade Walk and Roll to School Day. Kudos to Mr. Guzzi for planning this event.
On Friday there was also a “Math In” in which fifth grade students and their parents/guardians came together to do highly engaging math activities. Kudos to math coach Mrs. Trifiletti and fifth grade teachers Mrs. Andruskevich and Mrs. Sjostedt for planning this special event for our fifth graders and their families.

I am pleased to welcome Dr. Simone Palmer who is serving as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) at Hardy. Dr. Palmer is both an additional BCBA to support in our Skills program and a BCBA to support the needs of Hardy students at large. We are so pleased to have Dr. Palmer at Hardy!
Attention 3rd-5th Grade Parents/Guardians
WPS elementary schools have expanded our use of the NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Growth online assessment from mathematics to grades 3, 4 and 5 in math and reading in each school. Our district goal is to implement high quality assessment to understand and support your child’s learning in reading and math. The purpose of the assessment is to identify a student’s strengths and needs in reading and math with a high level of validity and reliability. This assessment is used as one measure to assist teachers with planning curricular extensions and identifying areas for support.
The MAP Growth assessment is an online, adaptive assessment that is taken on students’ individual iPads, typically in one instructional period. The assessment adjusts the question items to the individual student depending on the student’s responses. It provides easier or more complex questions until the student’s individual instructional zone of learning has been identified. The assessment results will be used by teachers to help design their instructional planning for students. More information about NWEA MAP Growth can be found at: https://www.nwea.org/
