Dear Hardy Families,
Highlight from the past week:
On Monday of this past week, 5th grade students enjoyed snowshoeing as part of their fitness & health class.
Return to a full in-person learning model & upcoming webinar:
As most of you are now aware, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education voted on Friday to give Education Commissioner Jeffrey Riley the authority to require school districts return to a full in-person learning model. At the elementary level, we expect to make a transition to a full, five-day, in-person schedule for grades K-5 beginning the week of April 5th. Wednesdays will be a half-day of in-person learning. In order to communicate more details about this next phase of school reopening, WPS will be hosting a webinar for staff and the community on Thursday, March 11th from 7-8:30PM. School Spirit Days:
In addition to our monthly Hardy Husky Spirit Days, we are going to have additional Spirit Days in an effort to help spread joy within the school community. In an effort to promote student leadership, I consulted with the fifth grade classes asking students to come up with the themes for special monthly spirit days and they decided on the following days:
- Grade level color day (each grade level assigned a different color to wear to school) – March
- All school pajama day – April
- Dress up like your favorite book, movie, or television character – May
We’ll have our first special Spirit Days this upcoming Thursday, March 11th and Friday, March 12th. We’ll have the grade level colors day…..students are encouraged to come to school dressed in the following assigned colors:
- Kindergarten – Red
- First grade – Orange
- Second grade – Yellow
- Third grade – Green
- Fourth grade – Blue
- Fifth grade – Purple
Hopefully these special Spirit Days will help spread joy throughout our school!
Have a great week!
Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
