Dear Hunnewell,

I want to give a shout out to our second graders who entertained us with a play about the world’s biomes today at Upham. I extend a special thank you to the Upham Community for cheering on our second graders today. Ms. Cannon and Ms Murray’s students knocked it out of the park, so much so that I feel strongly that they need to put on a second performance on our brand new Hunnewell stage for their parents (again) and their fellow Hunnewell students. Much like the “Community Helpers” play, this performance is sure to become a Hunnewell tradition.

We are 14 days away from our move-in and February 14th, Valentine’s Day, is right around the corner, so I want to provide some guidance around the exchanging of Valentines. As many of the cards today come with a sticker, tattoo, pencil or some other trinket, we will be allowing these small trinkets as part of the cards. We do ask that you keep the trinkets within reason and know that homemade cards and cards without trinkets are special to receive, too. We also ask that students who want to share Valentines, share a Valentine with every classmate. As a result, Valentines do not need to be individually addressed.

Parents, please mark your calendars for our Hunnewell ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, February 26th at 9AM. Note, the children will still come to school for 8:30AM arrival, so that we can take attendance and lunch count. We will hold the ceremony outside on the front plaza. More details will follow.

Sincerely,

Ellen
