Dear Hunnewell,

Today I had the opportunity to attend the Bates and Sprague Farewell Assemblies for our students. At Bates, our own Hunnewell Hawk made an appearance with Tux to recognize the Hunnewell Ks and 1s for being such kind and thoughtful citizens and the Bates students gave a shout out to Hunnewell teachers and staff, as well as to events shared between the two schools. The Hunnewell Ks and 1s also shared a letter of appreciation to the Bates community for welcoming us and sharing their space.

At Sprague, the students shared the Top Six Things that Sprague learned from Hunnewell, including building collaborative snow forts. Each grade level also wrote a letter to the Hunnewell students sharing that we will be missed, and they wish us well in our new school. Our students also shared our appreciation to the Sprague Community so that our school could be completed. As Ms. Petrowsky shared, “It is a bittersweet time.”

Today’s assemblies were the perfect example of ONE WELLESLEY! Thank you Bates and Sprague!

The building of the Hunnewell School has truly been a community effort involving so many stakeholders, and we are only moments away from moving into this spectacular building. I look forward to greeting our third, fourth, and fifth grade students tomorrow morning and our parent community tomorrow night. Again the schedule is as follows:

6:00-6:45 – K-2 Parents Self-Guided Tour

6:45-7:15 -K-5 Parent Meeting in the Cafetorium

7:15-8:00 – 3-5 Parents Self Guided Tour

See you then!

Sincerely,

Ellen
