Fiske Families,

Please join me for coffee on Wednesday, October 26th at 8:45a.m. in the library. This is a time to discuss questions and areas of interest you have in regards to Fiske. If you would like to send your questions ahead of time please email them to me at mcgregorr.

Today our Student Council presented an all school assembly that focused on the Cradles to Crayons collection that will take place at Fiske from Tuesday, November 1 – Friday, November 4th. Student council members shared that over 300,000 children across Massachusetts are need of clothing and hygiene items. The student council asked for the Fiske children to donate items to this incredible organization to help our greater community. All donations will be collected during drop off and in collection boxes at the entrance of the school. Please help if you can. Here is a list of items that are needed:

Most Needed Items:

  • Boys and girls clothing (youth sizes 0-7/8)

  • Diapers, size 6

  • New hygiene items for infants and children (shampoo, soap, baby lotion, brushes/combs)

  • Diaper wipes

What we accept:

  • Clothing and coats (youth sizes 0–20 and adult sizes small & medium)

  • New socks, underwear, and pajamas (only accepted in new condition)

  • Shoes, boots, sneakers, and sandals (infant/child sizes 0–13 and adult sizes 1–10)

  • Books, especially baby board books

  • Brand new arts and crafts/school supplies

  • Baby supplies and bedding (up to size twin)

  • Diapers, all sizes

  • Baby equipment, especially strollers and car seats within five years old

  • New and like-new toys (new toys are used for birthday gifts. Gently-used toys must have all pieces. We do not accept stuffed animals, ride-on toys, or plastic play structures)

  • New hygiene supplies for ages 0 to 12

  • New batteries

Fiske After School Enrichment

There are still spaces in our Fiske After School Enrichment program so enroll now! All registrations go through the Wellesley Recreation Department. Online registration can be completed through the Wellesley Recreation Deparmtment online system at berensons or School Psychologist, Sharon Grossman at grossmans .

Halloween Parade

Parents, guardians and friends, please join us for our annual Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31st at 9:00 a.m. We will be hosting the parade on our new route around the Fiske playground fields. Fiske’s Student Council members will be leading the parade. Students may wear a costume and walk with their class in a large circular path around the fields. We will have a special section of the field setup for you to be able to see all the children.

Please note that students are:

  • not allowed to wear masks, face paint or makeup

  • not allowed to bring props such a weapons

Please inform your child’s classroom teacher if your child will not be participating in the parade. Ms. Verret will be hosting students in the library and making a fun Fall craft.

Come Celebrate Wellesley’s 50th Anniversary!

Please join us as Wellesley METCO welcomes Dr. Ted Landsmark. Dr. Landsmark holds

degrees in law and environmental design from Yale University and a doctorate in American Studies from Boston University. His keynote speech, an exploration on the role of education in combating income inequality, will be followed by a panel of METCO alumni from each decade who will reflect upon their time in Wellesley. This evening promises to be a powerful and historic examination of Wellesley METCO’s early days and the program’s lasting impact on its participants and the wider community. A brief time for questions and answers will follow.
