Blue Fiske Falcon

Dear Fiske Families,

Thank you to Ms. Julie Verret  and the fourth grade classes for presenting the concert, A Man Named Martin.  Our narrator Mr. Cox told the story as our fourth grade students sang the story. This week I have been hearing the echoes of the fourth grade students and the entire audience singing  We Shall Overcome.   It was truly a magnificent performance by all.

On Thursday,  Ms. Verret and Mr. Russell boarded a bus with the Fiske orchestra and band and went to St. John School to perform for their students.  It was a wonderful opportunity for our Fiske children to perform for other students.  Once again they proved themselves to be a very talented group of musicians. Thank you to Cara Fineman and Tom Coleman for transporting some of the larger instruments to St. John School.  Parent support is vital to the success of our musical programming.

As many of you have heard, the flu season is upon us.  At Fiske we have not experienced a large number of flu cases. Please see the attached letter regarding flu precautions for families.

A Message from Fiske Cares

Please remember to send in your donation for the Fiske Cares Gift Card Drive.

Fiske Cares is a PTO Committee that focuses on assisting and supporting ALL Fiske families in need of help.  Starting 2017, our school community has come together to provide our vulnerable Fiske families with fresh groceries, diapers, gas and winter gear.  We are now trying to raise much-needed funds through our Fiske Cares Gift Card Drive.  We find that gift cards are a great way to help where we can and where it counts the most.  If you did not receive the flyer with details about the Fiske Cares Gift Card Drive, you can still send in a donation of any amount (cash or check) in an envelope addressed to FISKE CARES.  (Please be sure that the check is payable to “Fiske PTO” and “Fiske Cares” written in the memo line.)  All proceeds donated will be used toward specific gift cards that will allow struggling Fiske families access to basic necessities.  Thank you in advance for any support that you can offer!!

Any questions?  Please email Carol Tham or Hilda Lief at fiskecares@gmail.com

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

LET’S GO FOR THE GOLD!

Which classroom will take home the Gold Medal for collecting the most Box Tops?  It’s a race to earn an extra recess! The goal is to collect as many Box Tops as we can for our next official submission date, which is March 1st. Please clip and save your unexpired Box Tops from the products you already purchase for your household, place them in a plastic baggie or envelope and label with your name/classroom. As always, they do not have to be precisely trimmed. Send them in via backpack or drop at the front office. I will update the standings weekly!

Last week, the top three classrooms were:

1. Ms. Herald (1MH)

2. Mrs. Kelley (1K)

3. Ms. O’Sullivan (5O)

Thank you to all who have sent in Box Tops so far! Clipping Box Tops is such a fun and easy way to earn “free” money for our school–every Box Top is worth 10 cents and they add up so quickly! Let’s bring home the “Gold” for Fiske!
