Dear Fiske Families,

Happy Presidents’ Day weekend! The students had a wonderful time wearing their pajamas to school today and all seem very excited for vacation week. I wish you a wonderful week of family fun and time together.  As we hear about the tragedies in the world, it reminds me of how important it is to come together with family and friends to enjoy eachothers’ company and experience happiness each day.

Mark Your Calendars!

Spring is a very busy time at Fiske.  Kindergarten Round Up is on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Sprague School. If you have a Kindergarten student entering for the school year 2018-2019 please come register them at the Round Up.

Start collecting your recyclables now! On March 7th Fiske  will be hosting our third annual Day of Play. We ask  students to  bring items that are no bigger than the top of their desks. Items should come in on Wednesday, March 7th.  This year students will be a focusing on collaborating in small groups with the goal of creating an item that makes the world a better place.

The school book fair will be held March 19th-22nd. Students will attend the bookfair during their regularly scheduled library times.  Our Fiske Reads night will be held on Wednesday, March 21st from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  

More details will be coming regarding these events so please mark your calendars and stay posted..

An Invitation from our Health and Fitness Teacher Mrs. Gerst

You are invited! Come and be a part of your child in “action” during Fitness and Health Open House at Fiske. Parents and family members are encouraged to participate (or watch) in Fitness and Health classes during February 27th to March 9th.   Please find your child’s class and assigned “open house” time (30 minutes). Meet us in the gymnasium and feel free to join us with your yoga mat or share with your child. Participation is greatly encouraged. The students will be participating in a Yoga lesson. This is an exciting experience for you and your child. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

FIELD DAY is in just four months.  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday May 23rd and the rain date will be Wednesday June 6th.  A signup genius will be created and a link will be sent out for volunteers to sign up to help run a station.   Thank you for your help in advance.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

LET’S GO FOR THE GOLD!

Which classroom will take home the Gold Medal for collecting the most Box Tops?  It’s a race to earn an extra recess! The goal is to collect as many Box Tops as we can for our next official submission date, which is March 1st. Please clip and save your unexpired Box Tops from the products you already purchase for your household, place them in a plastic baggie or envelope and label with your name/classroom. As always, they do not have to be precisely trimmed. Send them in via backpack or drop at the front office. I will update the standings weekly!

Thank you to all who have sent in Box Tops so far! Clipping Box Tops is such a fun and easy way to earn “free” money for our school–every Box Top is worth 10 cents and they add up so quickly! Let’s bring home the “Gold” for Fiske!

Please note that the parent(s) of any Kindergarten eligible student should register with the Wellesley Public Schools even if they are interested in deferring their child’s attendance for one school year. Planning for the spring 2018 MCAS has begun. This year third  grade will take the MCAS  with paper and pen. All Fourth and Fifth grade students will be taking the MCAS online.  Please note the testing dates below and make every effort to have your student at school for each testing sessions.  Make up dates will be arranged in the event that your child/children are absent from school on an assessment day.
