Dear Fiske Families,

What a  weather week this has been! Between the warm spring days and cool winter days it is hard to determine what season we are experiencing.  Although, the warmer weather must be an indication that spring is around the corner.

Please come join me in the library for the Principal’s Coffee on Friday, March 2nd from 8:45-9:30 a.m.  We will be highlighting upcoming spring events and activities.  As always, please bring any questions you may have.

Do not forget to register for Fiske STEAM third session of programing on Tuesday, February 27th. Courses include Board Games, Cooing, Home Alone Safety, Crafts for a Cause, Fiske Makers, 4th and 5th Grade Play, Fun with Clay and Art and Math. Our programming is also introducing a STEM program taught by three of our own Wellesley High School Sophomores!   For more details please see the attached course description and registration form.

Robots made of recyclable material

What is the Fishtastic Day of Play? On Wednesday, March 7th  Fiske will be hosting a day of play for K-5 students. Students will be spending the day in collaborative groups making and creating using recyclable materials. Our theme this year will be Make Our World a Better Place. Children will work together to make items that enhance our world and bring happiness to others.

On Wednesday, March 7th, students will need to bring one grocery bag filled with clean, recycled items to school. All supplies are required to be recycled materials. Items should not be bigger than the top of a students classroom desk.

Some examples of acceptable recycled materials are:

Cereal boxes Egg cartons Shoe boxes

Milk cartons Tissue boxes Plastic bottles

Paper towel rolls Plastic cups Cracker boxes

Toilet paper rolls Appliance boxes

The children are always in need of extra packing tape. If you are willing to donate packing tape, please have your child bring a roll to school on Tuesday, March 6th. Thank you for your contributions!

To make this day a success we will need 2-3 volunteers per classroom to help assist with the “construction” process (cutting cardboard, etc.) during both the first creating/building block from 8:45-10:00, as well as the second creating/building block from 10:30-11:15 (clean-up help will also be needed during this second block).

Mark Your Calendars!

Spring is a very busy time at Fiske.  Kindergarten Round Up is on Saturday, March 3rd from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Sprague School. If you have a Kindergarten student entering for the school year 2018-2019 please come register them at the Round Up.

All are encouraged to join the Fiske PTO meeting in the Fiske library on Tuesday, March 13th at 6:30 pm.  The Fiske School could not offer all the fantastic enrichment programs without the tireless efforts of our parent/guardian community.  Please consider taking some time to attend the meeting and hearing about the incredible events that are coming up and how you can participate.

The school book fair will be held Monday, March 19th-Thursday, March 22nd. Students will attend the bookfair during their regularly scheduled library times.  Our Fiske Reads night will be held on Wednesday, March 21st from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
