Blue Fiske Falcon

Dear Families,

Thank you to Tracy Cyr and Sherri Herman for organizing Bingo Night at Bason last Friday night.  There was a big crowd and fun was had by all. Our Bingo Night pizza with the Principal winners are:

  • Kindergarten – Ethan Smith

  • 1st – Dash Lowe

  • 2nd – Caroline Smith

  • 3rd – Mira Bedi

  • 4th – Jiwan Lee

  • 5th – Seva Bedi

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the PTO meeting last night.  School Committee members, Michael D’Ortenzio and Melissa Martin, came to highlight the budget process and building projects. The meeting  ended with an update on the 2018 MCAS and progress on the Fiske Auction, Diversity Night and Science Fair. Be on the lookout over the next few weeks for information on all of these Fiske events.

A note from our Art Teacher, Marie Cosgrove:

I am very excited to announce that you can view student artwork on instagram!  You can follow my posts at fisketastic.art and see works in progress along with finished pieces.  Only student art will be posted, no photos of students. I look forward to sharing all of the incredible happenings going on in the Fiske art room!

Audio Book Information from our Literacy Specialist, Kristin Stoetzel

Many parents have been asking us how to access audiobooks and ebooks at home. There are many free resources on the Wellesley Free Library website (go to the Children’s Room under Homework Help).  Some favorites (you need a Wellesley Minuteman library card to access):

  • Tumble Books, animated picture books that children can read, as well as books that have an audio feature

  • Pebblego,  a wonderful source of nonfiction for grades K-3, and Pebble Go Next, a resource for research in grades 4-5

  • OverDrive and hoopla, both resources for audiobooks

If you visit the library in person, check out Playaways. Playaways are self-contained iPod-like devices that contain one audiobook- just add batteries and headphones! Listening to books increases engagement, comprehension, and vocabulary, which is essential for reading development.

Lost Toolbag

On Monday morning around 8:45 a.m. a town truck was parked next to the dumpster in the Fiske/Paws parking lot. After the truck arrived to the next location,  it was noticed that the tool bag was missing. It may have fallen out the truck in the Fiske /PAWS parking lot. The bag is a red Husky bag with 2 wheels and a handle that retracts. Please call Fiske School if you have found the bag.  Thank you for your help
