Hello Hardy Families:

I am happy to introduce three new teachers to the Hardy community:  Christina Giampietro, Felicia Lipari and Joe Kayser.  These new teachers are excited to be a part of the Hardy community and I am thrilled to have them on board.

We were all happy to hear about the addition of the grade 1 classroom and to have Mrs. Christina Giampietro come on board.  It was very sad to say good-bye to Kate Barry in grade 4 and then to Jennifer Dlesk in grade 5.  Both of them are getting married this summer and both of their future husbands were relocated to California.  After a long search we were able to find two outstanding teachers and invited them to be a part of our team.  All three new teachers come to us with experience and strong credentials.  Some of you may even remember Mr. Joe Kayser, he was here a copule of years ago covering a maternity leave for Mrs. Zweig who at the time was in grade 5.

I am out of the office this week so if you would like to contact me please use my email:  cookch@wellesleyps.org.

From our new folks:

I am thrilled to be joining the vibrant Hardy community as a first grade teacher! I am excited to work in a district that provides plentiful opportunities to grow as an educator in order to provide the children with the best educational experience possible. I have a B.A. in American Studies/Elementary Education, and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction.  This will be my 5th year teaching first grade.  I have also taught kindergarten and second grade. I absolutely love first grade, as the children are so enthusiastic and curious about the world around them! My goal is to provide your child with a meaningful and engaging educational experience that fosters their curiosity in a variety of ways. I often incorporate music and puppetry into the classroom and enjoy holding many culminating events as a way for the children to share what they’ve worked on with their family members and friends. I enjoy spending my free time with my children, my husband, and my cats. I am also highly involved in connecting with other educators to share resources and ideas.  I look forward to working together to provide your child with a magical year full of exploration, hands-on projects, new friendships, love of reading, and lots of learning!

My name is Felicia Lipari, and I am the newest addition to the 4th grade team. I am so excited to join the staff at the Hardy School and be a part of such a strong, close-knit community – both at the Hardy School and Wellesley Public Schools as a whole.  Here is a little bit of background on me: I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Boston University in 2011.  I’ve taught 4th grade for the past 2 years at the North Intermediate School in Wilmington, MA, and previously taught 4th grade for 1 year at a private school in Everett. In my previous teaching experiences, I also was able to oversee a Mad Scientist club, Art & Writing club, and Soccer club, and hope to bring some of these ideas to the Hardy School. In my spare time, I love to run, paint and take classes at the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as travel and watch the Red Sox win! I hope to bring some of these interests to the Hardy School as I work with students and create a strong, safe, and welcoming classroom community, utilizing many ideas from Responsive Classroom. I can’t wait to get started and work with you and your children this fall!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is a pleasure introducing myself to you.  I have been in education for the past eight years, working across many grade levels.  I began my career teaching Social Studies at a high school in Baltimore, Maryland. My time in secondary education was great, but made me realize my ultimate goal was to teach in the lower grades.  This prompted me to pursue my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. When I moved to Boston two years ago, my job search focused on the middle and elementary levels. I was lucky enough to find a T.A. position, and later a long-term substitute position, at Hardy School. This experience further solidified my passion for teaching at the elementary level, especially in the 5th grade. I spent 2013-2014 as a middle school teacher in Weymouth, but I welcomed the chance to apply for a teaching position at Hardy. The teachers at Hardy are some of the best that I have had the pleasure of working with and the involvement and commitment of the parents is unmatched.  I cannot wait to start the school year and meet all of my new students.  I am looking forward to diving into new books, exploring the ancient worlds and most of all helping my students prepare for the transition from 5th graders to middle school students.

Personally, I love to coach, play, and watch sports (although my New York allegiances aren’t too welcomed here!).  I am a soccer coach at Newbury College and I run various clinics for children ages 3-18.  I like hiking, kayaking and playing with my dogs but most of all I enjoy being a new parent and spending time with my 3-month old daughter.

                                                                                                            All the Best,

                                                                                                           Joseph Kayser
