Based on the smiles I saw on the faces of our children I would say that the first day at Hardy was a success for all.    Even though it was very warm the students managed to enjoy the day with their new teachers and classmates.  We are welcoming 21 new families to the Hardy community so there are a lot of new students in many of the classrooms.  Welcome to those families! You will find that the Hardy community is a very warm and nurturing environment.

You will receive information from your classroom teachers regarding Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 17th but you might want to note the schedule below.  Classroom teachers will be welcoming families during 30 minute blocks for presentations:

    6:30-7:00:  Grades 1 and 2
    7:00-7:30:  Grades K and 3
    7:30-8:00: Grades 4 and 5

The PTO supports the Hardy students and teachers in so many ways.  Today the PTO provided a wonderful lunch for the entire staff.  This is appreciated by everyone.  Thank you so much for your kindness.

We want to make sure that we are observing practices that support a safe learning environment.  One such practice is making sure that every guest and visitor checks in at the office as soon as you enter the school.  If you are going to visit a classroom you will check in with Janet Rixon, sign in, and wear a badge.  The staff at Hardy are expected to ask guests to return to the office to get a visitor badge if they see anyone in the school without one.  We are only doing this to make sure that we are providing a safe environment.  I also ask that if you are going to a classroom to visit, you make arrangements with the classroom teacher ahead of time so she or he knows to expect you.

I am really looking forward to another exciting year and getting to know all of our new families.

Best regards,
