Kindergarten:
The Kindergarten Round Up was a success again this year. For the past two years we have had centralized registration at the administration office and held kindergarten registration dates at Sprague. For all incoming Kindergarten parents, we will have our K orientation this Thursday, March 19th from 6:00-7:00. We will start in the kindergarten classrooms and meet in the library at 6:10.

Thank you all for continuing to be so patient with drop off and pick up. If you park on one of the side streets and walk to drop off or pick up be sure to only park on one side of the street. Lafayette Circle had a situation where emergency vehicles had a hard time passing because cars were parked on either side of the street.
Arrive on Time:
While it’s very exciting that we broke the long standing record for the greatest amount of snow I want us to keep up with our improved morning arrival times. Prior to all of the snow we had a significant increase in on-time arrivals. This had a tremendous impact on student learning; it meant that teachers were able to start instruction on time. Let’s make it our goal to be back to close to 100% on time arrivals by March 20 to kick off the spring season.
Recess:
The fields continue to be covered with massive amounts of snow. Thank you for continuting to send your children into school with clothing that allows them to have fun in the snow and soon to be very wet fields. I am a believer that children need to be outside to get some exercise and the fields can create a challenging situation. The fresh air and exercise does wonders for children.
Parent Book Group:
The date for the parent book group led by Lisa Goodman and myself will be: April 28th from 6:30-7:30. We are reading the book The Parents We Mean to Be by Richard Weissbourd.
Planning ahead, the next book will be The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor which will take place sometime in May.
MCAS:
A change to the MCAS schedue has been made for grade 4 long composition make-up day only. The new date for the long composition grade 4 make up is now: Thursday, April 9
We held a MCAS information night this fall but if you have a question about the MCAS please give me a call or you can access information through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Each fall I invite parents in to learn about the test so if you missed it there is always another one in the fall.

Hale Reservation:
Every year Grade 5 takes a trip to Hale Reservation. Grade 5 parents will receive a packet of information as the event approaches. The trip requires registration and payment. Financial Assistance is available and that information will be included in the packet.
