Hello Hardy Families: Welcome back! Let’s hope for a full week without disruptions… Thank you- I want to thank everyone for being so patient at drop off and pick up.  Hardy has had challenges without all of this snow so I appreciate your extra patience while waiting for pick up.   The note below is from a group of college students from Olin and Wellesley, their timing couldn’t be any more perfect: Hello, We are a group of college students from Olin and Wellesley College. For our Sustainability Synthesis class, we have partnered with the Wellesley Public Schools to study transportation within the district. As part of our study, we would like to understand how the school transportation system works as well as the motivations of the schools, parents, and students. To further our understanding, we would like to observe the pick-up and drop-off procedures, as well as talk to a sampling of those involved in this process. We plan to observe the half hour before school starts and the half hour after school ends sometime in the last week of February and first two weeks of March. This information would be used within our team to help us generate possible improvements to the system, and could possibly show up in a report to the district. All information will be anonymized before use. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.  David Elkan (david.elkan@students.olin.edu) Rita Mary Hennigan (rhenniga@wellesley.edu) Elizabeth Mahon (elizabeth.mahon@students.olin.edu) David Pudlo (david.pudlo@students.olin.edu) Chloe Williamson (cwilla5@wellesley.edu) David Zhu (huanzhen.zhu@students.olin.edu) MCAS schedule: ELA Grade 3:  ELA:  Tuesday, March 24 and Thursday, March 26 Grade 4:  Long Comp:  Tuesday, March 24  Grade 4:  ELA:  Thursday, March 26 and Monday, March 30 Grade 5:  ELA:  Monday, March 23 and Friday, March 27 Math Grade 3:  Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14 Grade 4:  Tuesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 14 Grade 5:  Monday, May 4 and Thursday, May 7 Science Grade 5:  Tuesday, May 12 and Friday, May 15 Parent book group: Lisa Goodman and I will lead a book group using the book, The Parents We Mean to Be by Richard Weissbourd.  While we are working on the specific date we will meet sometime in April.  You can learn more about the author and the book at:  www.richardweissbourd.com/about_the_parents_we_mean_to_be.html Elementary Mathematics Parent Workshop: Come to an interactive workshop to learn about your child’s mathematics learning.  During this workshop, parents will: · solve math problems and participate in math activities · see examples of lessons and problems · learn how to support math learning. Auction Night: The Auction committee has been so busy and I know many of you have been involved.  This is my first auction year and I am already in awe of the work the Hardy parents do to support the Hardy Community through the auction.  I know that there is still a lot of work to be done so if you haven’t already found out how you can help I am sure it is not too late.  Connect with the auction committee through the PTO page.   The PTO has an updated webpage-   http://www.hardyelementary.org/ Thank you, Charlene Cook, Principal
