Hello Hardy Parents:

If you are interested in serving on the Profile of a Graduate task force please let me know by Tuesday, January 23rd.  It would be ideal to have at least two Hardy parents representing our school community.  I have attached the information regarding the task force below.  Additionally, Ken Kay will be speaking to Wellesley Public School families on Monday, January 22 at 7:00pm at the Wellesley High School.

As we strive to prepare WPS students for success in college, career and life, the District has been focused on integrating 21st century learning principles into our curriculum.  In partnership with EdLeader21, a national network of school and district leaders focused on integrating the 4Cs into education, WPS is preparing to embark on an effort to develop our Profile of a Graduate (POG), i.e., what our community wants a WPS graduate to know and be able to do.  It is essential that our conversation about the POG includes multiple community stakeholders. We are therefore seeking interested community members to join a POG Task Force – in particular, students, graduates, parents, educators, as well as leaders from local businesses and higher ed institutions. The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, January 24, 2018.  Please click below to register and for additional details on the Task Force.

The Task Force will meet three times over the course of the spring to help build Wellesley’s POG and will seek additional input before making a recommendation to the School Committee by the end of this school year.  The sessions will be facilitated by Ken Kay, CEO of EdLeader21. Working closely with Drs. David Lussier and Joan Dabrowski, the Task Force will meet from 4:00 – 7:30 pm on these three dates:

  • Wednesday, February 7th
  • Wednesday, March 7th
  • Tuesday, May 1st

If you are interested in serving on this task force, please fill out this application form.  You must be able to commit to participating in all three sessions for the entire duration of each session. Please note that space is limited – we want to ensure all community stakeholders are well represented in this task force that will be capped at 50 members. The application deadline has been extended to Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

In the meantime, the Wellesley Public Schools, in collaboration with the Wellesley Education Foundation, will be hosting the CEO of EdLeader21, Ken Kay, on Monday, January 22, at 7 pm at Wellesley High School who will be discussing Preparing Students for Their 21st Century Lives.  The presentation is open to the entire community.

We look forward to working with a diverse cross-section of community stakeholders to formulate the Wellesley POG. This work will enable us to sharpen our focus as we develop the next iteration of our strategic plan during the 2018-2019 school year, and will help move Wellesley Public Schools even closer to our shared vision of a world-class school system.
