Hello Hardy Families,

On January 31st you will receive the WPS elementary Standards-Based Report Card.  The purpose of the new SBRC is to clearly and objectively communicate how your child is doing in school. You can find useful information about the SBRC posted on the Wellesley Public School website (link here).

This is a new reporting system and I want to help families understand how to read the report card.  Therefore, I invite you to attend an information session on Thursday, January 23rd. Two teachers, Karen Poole (3rd grade) and Allison Hutchins (2nd grade) will join me to walk you through the new report card and answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you at one of these sessions in the Hardy Library.

On another note:

Yesterday we heard that some students were aware of the Amber Alert that was made two nights ago.  The information broadcasted included that an 11-year-old child was abducted in Springfield, MA.  Thankfully, she was later found.

Due to the nature of the Amber Alert system and our technology including cell phones and Blue Tooth, many more children were made aware of this abduction.  This type of information is very unsettling and quite scary to us all but particularly to children.  In the future, if your child hears an Amber Alert, please talk with them about it and make sure they understand to not bring the information into school. Not all students have access to the same information and we are trying to keep rumors at bay and decrease high levels of worry our students may experience.  In addition, these scary situations are always a good reminder to review safety procedures with our children.

If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to either of us.
