Dear Hardy families,
Overall, we are off to a great start this school year! However, I would like to acknowledge the recent tragedy in Winder, GA. As their community mourns, our thoughts and prayers are with them. I also want to remind our entire community that the Wellesley Public Schools remain vigilant about the safety and protection of our students, staff and families.

Highlight from the past week
On Wednesday, we had an instrumental music demonstration assembly for 2nd-5th graders. This assembly is put on by instrumental music teachers from across Wellesley Public Schools as a way to expose students to different instruments and inform them of opportunities to participate in the upper grades.
Back to School Night schedule
We will be having our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 18th.
The schedule will be:
Grades 3-5 classroom presentations: 5:45-6:15 PM
Principal/PTO welcome in cafeteria: 6:20-6:40 PM
Grades K-2 classroom presentations: 6:45-7:15 PM
Morning drop off reminders
*Parents/guardians/caregivers doing car drop off are reminded that they do not have to loop around through the back teachers’ parking lot, as they do during pick up. They can pull directly into the front loop.
*As we want to keep a clear path around the car drop off lane so that busses can pass by without obstruction from cars, we would ask that cars remain to the right of the white lane so that there is space for buses to pass through the front loop as they head to the bus drop off lane. Thank you for your cooperation.
Students riding bikes to school reminder
Students riding bikes to school are asked to walk their bikes on school property, particularly on the sidewalk next to the bus/van drop off/pick up lane. This will help to provide safety for pedestrians and those on bikes.
School Council Parent representatives
As a reminder, we still have parent representative vacancies on the School Council. The School Council meets on the first Thursday of the month (with meetings held in October, November, January, March and May) from 7:45-8:30 AM over Zoom. The Council is composed of the principal, a community representative, and an equal distribution of teachers and parents. Councils are tasked with assisting the principal by reviewing the school building budget and the school improvement plan. The Council also helps to support overall school improvement initiatives. If you have an interest in serving on the School Council or if you have any questions about this opportunity, please email me directly at smithg@wellesleyps.org by this Wednesday, September 11th. There will be an election to determine these representatives. Stay tuned for more information on this election in the coming weeks.
Have a great week!
Respectfully yours,
Grant Smith
Principal
